1959 was an important and highly evolutionary year for the Stratocaster because that's when slimmer necks, rosewood fingerboards and multi-ply laminated pickguards first appeared. Reflecting these historic idiosyncrasies, this Limited Edition '59 Stratocaster RW brings to life a fine example from later 1959 model.
In May Fender revised its recipe, switching from an all-maple neck to one with a flat laminated rosewood fingerboard. This later version has a rigid and resonant quartersawn flame maple neck capped with rosewood. It is fast-playing and comfortable, thanks to the '63 "C" neck profile, 9.5"-radius fingerboard and 21 6105 frets. The two-piece select alder body wears a Journeyman Relic lacquer finish, giving it the look and feel of a well-loved guitar that's seen countless stages. Fender also changed the pickguard, moving from 1-ply to a new 3-ply mint green pickguard with 10 holes and beveled edges. This one's loaded with a trio of Hand Wound Fat '50s single-coil pickups that includes a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup to reduce hum.
Other premium features include five-way switch, Vintage Modified #2 wiring, American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap, engraved "Limited Edition" neck plate and Certificate of Authenticity.
